Andrea earned her Masters degree in School Social Work from the University of Georgia and has a Specialist Degree in Occupational Studies from UGA. She is a certified School Social Worker. Andrea has experience in a clinical setting through community mental health as a child and adolescent counselor. She also facilitated groups for adults experiencing depression and anxiety. In addition, she has worked with a private agency delivering in home intensive child and family counseling in crisis situations. She is presently, a school social worker with Gwinnett County, specializing in special education. She has experience with children with autism and aspergers syndrome.

Andrea has worked with children, families and individuals from all socioeconomic backgrounds, races, cultures and lifestyles. She has offered support to the homeless, those in transition, with disabilities, and recovering from trauma and institutional living. She has worked with displaced women and children, adults with addictions and she is experienced with 12-step recovery.

Andrea loves to play, so counseling with children is a natural evolution of her practice. She also uses play with adolescents, families and individuals. She teaches anger management, problem solving, and effective communication and conflict resolution techniques.

Andrea approaches counseling in a non-judgmental way, putting clients at ease and offering support. She believes all healing occurs from the inside out. She believes her role is allowing a space for guiding the individual through their own spiritual and innate strengths, providing a supportive environment for one to embrace all possibilities. Her intention is to heighten an individual’s ability to recognize their own intuitive senses that will then guide them to a more peaceful, joyful and love filled life.
